iSCSI
There is a new standard being adopted by major companies called iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface). The standard allows for the ability to disconnect the SCSI storage device and extend it across the network to a much greater distance than is currently allowed today. Storage companies are developing Initiator and Target Storage Devices to be used with iSCSI. The problem is that the network connection has to be of a very high-speed variety otherwise the computer will mark the storage device as unavailable since the latency time will be too high if the network connection is too slow. PRISM Engine™ can be integrated with this technology to handle the network latencies of the slower network connection. PRISM Engine™ will allow many more potential customers to make use of iSCSI who could not have afforded to otherwise.
